Aerospace
Foam is also used in aerospace where structural integrity,
temperature compensation, thermal stability and mechanical
stability is required. Polyurethane is a unique material
that offers the elasticity of rubber combined with the
toughness and durability of metal. It is available in
a diverse range of hardness which allows the engineer
to replace rubber, plastic and metal with a product that
is more resistant to abrasion and has more desirable physical
properties. Foam is used in aerospace as it has better
abrasion and tear-resistant properties than rubbers, while
offering higher load-bearing capacity. Using foam in aerospace
also has additional advantages like weight and better
acoustic properties.
